Video Producer to handle the entire production process

We are looking for an experienced, creative and multi-skilled video producer to join the Communications Department of our international office in Amsterdam. You will be responsible for producing, coordinating and distributing news and creative video content for global broadcast television news, video sites and a variety of other channels and platforms.

 

Purpose of the job

Manage from script to screen (produce, edit and distribute) GPI video footage; both news and features to global media markets and TV channels, including digital TV, support NRO's with distribution of material, training, produce and distribute Greenpeace footage to global media markets, in accordance with industry quality standards as well as internal brand guidelines in order to ensure Greenpeace is and will remain a trusted and creative provider of video news and features.

Main responsibilities

  •  Plan, shoot, script, edit, produce and distribute news reports, B-rolls and features for international agencies, exchanges and broadcast clients, for the various campaigns after approval of the Communications manager and Resource Pool Manager to ensure that Greenpeace news is provided to them on a timely basis.
  •  Plan, shoot, script, edit, produce and distribute promos, documentaries, music videos, vlogs, campaign films, clip reels and other non-news productions after assignment by Communications manager and Resource Pool Manager with the aim of winning campaigns and in order to increase Greenpeace's profile.
  • Investigate, develop and implement new delivery channels and platforms for Greenpeace video content in conjunction with other members of the Communications Department like Comms managers, media relations specialists or Innovation & Channel Manager in order to ensure Greenpeace remains a trusted and creative provider of video news and features.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with freelance camera crews and producers negotiate contracts with these parties within budget and the legal framework of GPI and keep up all corresponding and administration in order to ensure video production can be outsourced externally and can still be consistent with our internal brand guidelines.
  •  Develop and maintain close working relationships with external clients including news desks, editors, independent filmmakers, documentary producers and others in order to maintain a dialogue with the global broadcast media and promote Greenpeace stories.
  • Stay up to date with relevant copyright procedures and ensure Greenpeace footage is conform international copyright legislation.
  • Responsible for music and copyright clearance and for licensing footage commissioned or bought from external clients to make sure we publish the right footage in order to avoid lawsuits / claims.
  •  Provide advice and support to NROs on all video production matters together with the Media Technology Coordinator. Facilitate the timely delivery of NRO footage to international clients as required in order to ensure that Greenpeace video news footage fits with broadcast industry standards and is targeted at the correct media channels.
  • Keep abreast of developments in video production particularly in regard to camera, editing and transmission technologies and emerging delivery platforms and advise Chief Editor, Innovation & Channel Manager and Communication Managers of forthcoming opportunities in order to ensure Greenpeace is and will remain a trusted and creative provider of video news and features.
  • Draw up production budgets; monitor expenditure of GPI video work worldwide in conjunction with the Communication Manager and when relevant a campaign's project leader (delegated budget) according to agreed objectives and priorities to ensure cost effectiveness and strategic expenditure.

Skills required / qualifications

  • MBO/HBO degree in broadcast journalism or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least 3 years experience working in a television news or current affairs environment, preferably with experience of live or daily broadcasting
  • Sound technical and productions skills including camera operation, non-linear editing and script-writing
  • In-depth knowledge of international broadcasting and television news agencies
  • Sound editorial judgment
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and to meet tight deadlines, including a flexible mindset regarding working hours and travel
