Protecting rare snow leopards from climate change in the Himalayas
A new WWF study shows that climate change is an increasing threat for already-endangered snow leopards in the eastern Himalayas - making it harder for them to live, breed and hunt. The science shows that if greenhouse gas emissions keep rising steadily, 30% of snow leopard habitat may be lost as the treeline shifts upwards. Snow leopards are an endangered species - it's estimated that only 4,000-6,500 individuals may be left in the wild, sparsely distributed in the mountains of northern and central Asia, including part of the Himalaya range.

According to the report "Livestock's Long Shadow" published by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, livestock generates 18% of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As such, livestock is a frontline contributor to environmental degradation worldwide. It is heavily responsible for air and water pollution, deforestation, land degradation, loss of biodiversity and climate changes. The greenhouse gas emissions from beef production are particularly high: eating one kilogram of beef roughly equals the GHG emissions of flying 100 kilometres by jet, per passenger.

To all conscious people concerned with the well-being of our Earth, I would like to bring your attention to an atrocity being committed in my country South Africa, almost unnoticed. The consequences are severe, we must address this issue.
TRADE IN LION BONES
I hear the argument that it is better to allow the breeding of lions to "flood the market and stop the incentive for poaching".

Global leaders ended a UN development summit on Friday with what was widely considered a lackluster agreement, leaving many attendees convinced that individuals and companies, rather than governments, must lead efforts to improve the environment.
Nearly 100 heads of state and government gathered over the past three days in efforts to establish "sustainable development goals," a UN drive built around economic growth, the environment and social inclusion. But a lack of consensus over those goals in Rio de Janeiro led to an agreement that even some signatory nations said lacked commitment, specifics and measurable targets.

The melting Arctic is under threat from oil drilling, industrial fishing and conflict.
There is no government or army to protect the Arctic, only countries and companies looking to carve it up. Help us plant a Flag for the Future at the North Pole.
There are seven billion of us on our planet. Each and every one of us is affected by the health of the Arctic: by reflecting the sun's rays off its ice, the Arctic shapes our weather patterns and the food we grow and eat.
