What is it?
The Lost World Project is a unique not for profit initiative led by Ibex Earth that aims to generate funding over the next five years to help the urgent conservation needs of one of the world's most remarkable regions - the Guiana Highlands (located in northern South America, extending from Venezuela into Guyana and northern Brazil).
The tablelands of the Guiana Highlands are among the most spectacular, yet least explored, mountains of our world. Each is an immense sandstone plateau that is encircled on all sides by gigantic vertical cliffs up to 1,000 metres tall. The summits of these unique mountains have remained isolated for millions of years, and today harbour plants, animals and landscapes that occur nowhere else on Earth.

A falcon has come to the rescue of the Skandia Team GBR, the British Sailing Team.
Felix's job has been to scare away seagulls that were becoming a nuisance around the team accommodation block which is based next to the Weymouth and Portland sailing venue for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The early morning squawking from the gulls was disturbing the sleep of many of the team and their fouling was beginning to damage buildings and boats. But as the video shows Felix may now be required to keep an eye on the Team's behaviour ahead of next year's big regattas as well.

Tanzanian activists learning to edit and the ‘magic' of making films. A short film about the final edit workshop conducted as part of EIA's 3-year training programme in Tanzania, funded by the UK Government, DFID. The video is a short edit I made over the weekend having shot it on the Canon 5D last week. I am spending 2 weeks running a workshop to train activists in Tanzania how to edit and the video shows some of my good friends.

UN talks have run out of time to meet a December 2012 deadline to put in place a binding successor to the Kyoto Protocol on curbing greenhouse gases, the UN's top climate official said Monday.
The main aim of the UN talks process was to agree a legally binding deal by 2012 but it has gradually turned to mobilizing voluntary action and funds to fight global warming.
The Kyoto Protocol binds almost 40 industrialized countries to emissions cuts from 2008-2012. Poor and emerging economies want to extend the pact, while industrialized nations prefer to replace it.
