International Wildlife Film Festival
- Missoula, Montana - The Changing Planet: A Global
Evolution in Media & Conservation
IWFF
2008 Dates May 10-17
EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION DEADLINE: APRIL 7
Festival Schedule Now Online at www.wildlifefilms.org
The
International Wildlife Film Festival is the premier
film venue that celebrates wildlife and natural history
programming from a global perspective. Our focus is
on media and conservation.
As an international film and conservation symposium
for filmmakers, broadcasters, scientists, conservation
leaders, educators, students and others, IWFF provides
a unique opportunity for the sharing of ideas and the
development of proactive projects that impact what happens
to our planet.
IWFF is also a unique opportunity to engage public audiences,
to learn about trends in filmmaking --- technology,
cinematography and wildlife production as well as to
participate in dynamic seminars and workshops that focus
on wildlife, conservation and the natural world.
IWFF is a major community event and celebration where
over 10,000 film enthusiasts and 5,000 area youth attend
film screenings and public discussions with filmmakers
and where filmmakers have the rare opportunity to watch
audience reactions to their films.
The International Wildlife Film Festival is both a Filmmaker's
Festival, as one of the most important wildlife film
events in the world and a Community festival for Missoula
and all of Montana. Often called the Sundance of the
wildlife film genre, IWFF is known worldwide for its
welcoming atmosphere, as a learning and networking opportunity
for filmmakers, and as an important venue that enables
conservation and film projects to flourish in an intimate
and creative environment.
In
2008, IWFF will honor two special individuals with the
IWFF Lifetime Achievement Award. These individuals are:
Dr. Alan Rabinowitz, of the Wildlife Conservation Society,
for his lifelong conservation efforts to save wild cats
and their habitat around the world & Hardy Jones,
award-winning filmmaker who has devoted his life to
marine conservation, awareness and education.

Jackson
Hole Symposium 2008 -
Save the Date: September 23rd-25th
For
years, filmmakers associated with the Jackson Hole Wildlife
Film Festival have sought to build collaborative partnerships
with non-broadcast distributors. Meeting that demand,
this autumn the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival
and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science are delighted
to announce the first-ever conference that brings content
creators together with media execs from museums, parks,
aquariums, zoos and other public institutions.
New
technology has rapidly expanded the potential for institutional
media. As digital media becomes more accessible, even
the smallest of these institutions can identify relevant
applications - and can afford to put them in place.
The
media appetite of this important distribution pathway
is as varied as it is broad. From high end, large format
and 3-D programming, to gallery installations and interactive
kiosks, to handheld videopodcast and web-distributed
media, the Jackson Hole Symposium, slated for September
23rd to 25th, will explore the latest technology and
visionary media applications as well as promote innovative
opportunities for educational outreach in exhibits and
on the web.
Registration
opens in June, so Save the Dates, now! For more information
regarding sponsorship opportunities, please contact
Corinne Mathieu. If you are interested in participating
in the Symposium's Programming Committee please contact
Lisa Samford.
