Title: Dear Mr. President

Description:

In 2005, GAFI took Patrick Rouxelʼs film ʻLosing Tomorrowʼ on road shows throughout SE Asia to create awareness of deforestation, palm oil plantations and support local solutions.

One local community was so strongly affected by the content of a GAFI film on deforestation and the economic effect on the local communities, that they requested GAFIʼs assistance to create their own film (entitled ʻDear Mr. Presidentʼ) to present their conservation concerns directly to their President.

Languages: Bahasa, English & French

Length: 10 mins

Positive results:

President Susilo of Indonesia received the film and in response constructed a

Conservation Strategy for Forestry and Orang-utans at the Climate Change Conference in Bali.

"Presidents Susilosʼ response eventually was to use the beginning of the film at his presentation to the Bali Climate Change Conference where he announced his

governments strategy for the protection of forests and the orang-utans in Indonesia. It went down very well apparently" Madelaine Westwood.

Non-ProfitDVD Availability:

The Dear Mr Pres is open access, everyone can use it, they just need to contact me (to ensure ethicaluse) and then they would be good to go." Madelaine Westwood.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
