Thanks for your message.
What I strongly recommend is to connect with a production company and/or a seasoned producer to gain some experience. Offer your services as a volunteer or as an intern. (Internships are typically offered to college students for credit.)
Film festivals are a great place for networking and seeing award winning films. You really learn a lot at the festivals. If you volunteer, the entrance fee is typically waivered.
As for dealing with a very little budget, the best thing you can do is write a grant. It's a lengthy process, but worth pursuing. Be sure to follow the guidelines. Otherwise, your grant proposal will be rejected.
And be persistent.
All the very best to you,
Maya
I recently connected to Sarah Monnerat through Linked in
and I saw you were one of her connections.I was curious as to what you were doing and saw that you are involved with Filmmakers for conservation? It is a great idea. You can give back and to do what you enjoy at the same time.
Currently, I'm living in New Jersey and belong to Princeton Film Makers Group. I'm working on a short documentary about woman who start their own business. Anyway, I 'm new to the would of documentaries and I wanted to know if you could offer any advice to a beginner with no budget. I hope all is well.
Thanks,
Susan
